Pilot comments
This is an advantageous area, one of the best in Greece, for long distance flights to all directions, as the conditions are perfect to gain height. For that reason competitions have been held in the past in Velia. During the flight one has a beautiful view of the valleys and mountains, Helmo, Kalavrita, some neighbouring villages, Agia Lavra and all the historical sites of the area. Long routes have taken place in the past: towards Mt Erimantho, the city of Tripoli, Argos and Mt Ziria.
