Pilot comments
The take-off is located on the western slope near the pass. It can be reached in two minutes on foot, parking the car near the pass; or by taking the ancient Priula road, in about 20 minutes, starting from the Ca' S. Marco Refuge. The recommended time of year for flying is from spring to late autumn. In the winter period, the S. Marco Pass is closed to traffic. In the 'mouth' of the Pass, the Venturi effect is frequently generated, and in the event of strong winds, this requires the use of the two alternative take-offs located respectively 40 metres below the main one or next to the power line near the Ca' S. Marco Refuge (1870 m above sea level). Tense wind conditions can make the top landing challenging. The landing is wide and free of obstacles; located in the Valmora below, it is accessible by walking along a short dirt road.
