Most of the flying area is under the Temporary Reserved Airspace areas TRA54 and TRA55, used mainly for military purpose. The normal maximum altitude allowed is 3200m (10500 feet), but often for events in the area, NOTAMs to FL125 (3810m or 12500 feet).

Azinha is the cornerstone of the flying sites in Serra da Estrela. With its South facing take-off high above the valley it presents a stunning view towards Torre (the highest peak of Serra da Estrela mountain ridge and continental Portugal) and over the the river Zêzere. (©clubevertical.org)
